CHRIST, THE FOUNDATION OF THE TEMPLE

In the message: “The Temple Cleaned and Cured” we saw in Matthew 21 how Jesus cleaned the temple. He went into the temple area where the money changers and dove sellers sat and overturned their tables. After He cleaned the temple, the sick came unto Him and He cured them.

In John 2, where an account of the same event is given, the Pharisees asked Him this question: “Who gave You the authority to do what You’ve just done? Who commission You? Who charged You? Who told You that You can clean the temple and the same time cure the sick people who were in the temple?” Jesus’ answer: “Break down the temple and in three days I will build it again.” They did not know that He was speaking of the temple that is His body.

Jesus cleaned the temple and cured the people.

The Pharisees asked: “Who gave You the power to do that?”

Jesus answered: “Break down this temple and in three days I will build the real temple.”

The real temple is the body of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a BODY You have prepared for Me.”

In Matthew 12 Jesus again went into the temple. The Sadducees and Pharisees were there when Jesus and His disciples were eating some grain off the field and they asked: “How can they eat the corn on the Sabbath day?” Jesus answered: Matthew 12:3-8 Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, not for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law the on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.

The Son of Man went into the temple, chased people out and the next moment He said that there were people who did wrong in the temple and they are blameless. He told them that Son of Man and is also Lord of the Sabbath and asked them: “If one of you have a donkey or a sheep that falls into a pit, will you go take him out on the Sabbath day? Is it that you care more for animals than people?” Immediately after that, multitudes followed Him and He cured them.

In Luke 13, when Jesus came to the synagogue there was a women who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years. He said: “Woman thou art loosed from thine infirmity.”

It all happened in the temple or the synagogue. The synagogue is an outflow of the temple. It’s like an agency or sub-station of the temple.

Again the Pharisees and Sadducees were looking to see if He was going to do something on the Sabbath day. He did – He healed the woman and asked the same question again: “If you have a donkey or a sheep, will you loose that animal to go and drink water on the Sabbath? Why do you care for animals? Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, being loosed on this day from her infirmity?”

Jesus was telling them, that He has the power over the temple because He is actually the real temple. God’s interest is in cleaning the temple and curing the people.

Acts 7:45-49 indicates that the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant were with the children of Israel until the days of David. David desired to build a house, a temple for God. BUT DAVID FOUND GRACE IN THE SIGHT OF GOD and God said: “Because you have found grace, you can’t build Me a physical temple.” :47 -50 But Solomon built Him a house. However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: “Heaven is My throne and earth is my footstool. What house will yu build for Me? Says the Lord, or what is the place of My rest? Has my hand not made all these things?”

Jesus said: “If you break down the temple Solomon built, I will build the real temple.

Ephesians 1:18-23 … the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance IN THE SAINTS, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which he worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave HIM TO BE HEAD over all things to the CHURCH, WHICH IS HIS BODY, the FULLNESS of Him who FILLS ALL IN ALL.

If the church is His body and He says: “I will build My temple” then the church is the temple. If Jesus went through all the trouble to get that temple destroyed and showed them what the real temple was, why do we want to spend time in another temple?

DON’T LAY THE FOUNDATION AGAIN

Hebrews 6:1 “THEREFORE LET us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ (the Messiah), advancing steadily toward the completeness and PERFECTION that belong to spiritual maturity. Let us not again be laying the foundation of repentance and abandonment of dead works (dead formalism) and of the faith [by which you turned] to God.”

“Let us go on to PERFECTION.” This is God’s idea for the church.
Perfection is also the word “maturity.” God wants you to be mature; to move into perfection. To get to perfection He says: “Don’t lay again the foundation.”

The foundation is the following: 1) Your first belief in Christ.
2) Repentance from dead works.
3) Initial faith.

What is a foundation? A foundation is the very first thing you dig, throw or build before you can start building a building. No foundation = no building. If you want to go to perfection, you can’t keep on laying a foundation. The foundation is the very first belief in Christ, the first encounter with Christ, it’s our born again experience; it’s when we are changed, saved, filled. When we come to Jesus Christ the foundation is laid. He uses the word “foundation” because He is ready to build a building. A foundation is only used in building. He expects everyone sitting in church, to have the foundation.
Perfection = the building.

1 Corinthians 3:1-8 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to BABES in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are

envy, strife, and divisions

 among you, are you not

carnal and behaving like mere men?

For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

A baby is a foundational Christian – people at the first principles of Christ. We must go on to perfection and maturity.

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [YOU ARE] GOD’S BUILDING.

We are God’s building. A building has a foundation.

David desired to build a temple, but he found grace and couldn’t build a physical temple, for God doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands. Solomon built a physical temple but David had a temple. In Acts and in Amos God says: “I will come and rebuild the temple of David” yet David could not build a temple because he had found grace. The grace meant that he had another temple. When we think of somebody spending time in the presence of God, we think of David.

1 Corinthians 3:10a According to the grace (the special endowment for my task) of God bestowed on me, like a skillful architect and master builder I LAID [the] FOUNDATION…

Paul says: “I’m a master builder, an architect sent by God to lay a foundation.”

1 Corinthians 3:10b …and now ANOTHER [man] is BUILDING upon it. But let each [man] be careful how he builds upon it.

Paul said that you are God’s building, he laid the foundation and others now build. Who are the other people that are involved in the building of your building? Is it you, yourself, are other people involved or is it both?

1 Corinthians 3:11 For NO OTHER foundation can anyone lay than that which is [already] laid, which IS JESUS CHRIST (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

The foundation is Jesus Christ and no man can lay another foundation. Paul constantly said: “If any other man comes and preaches another Christ to you… If any man comes with another Gospel, let him be a cursed.”

BE CAREFUL HOW YOU BUILD

After the foundation is laid, why do you want to lay it again? How many people build and when they are halfway, say: “Let’s break down the foundation and build another foundation” then they come to the windows and say: “We are window height, let’s break down the foundation?” Through the years, the church has been laying foundations over and over again. The church is not a place to meet Jesus; it’s a place to be fed, healed, and blessed – to be touched of God. Do you really want to walk with Jesus or do you want to be a baby drinking milk, laying a foundation everyday? If you are a builder and you lay a foundation everyday, you are never going to have a building. God is interested in a building.

The Bible says: “Jesus is the stone that the builders rejected, and He became the Chief of the corner.” That means that He was laid as the foundation and now somebody must build.

1 Corinthians 3:12-16 But if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with GOLD, SILVER, PRECIOUS STONES, WOOD, HAY, STRAW, The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be REVEALED WITH FIRE, and the fire will test and critically appraise the CHARACTER and worth of the work each person has done. If the work which any person has built on this Foundation [any product of his efforts whatever] survives [this test], he will get his reward. But if any person’s WORK IS BURNED UP [under the test], he will suffer the loss [of it all, losing his reward], though he HIMSELF WILL BE SAVED, but only as [one who has passed] through fire.

Paul says that you must watch out how you build for every now and then fire will come and it will test the amount of bricks that is already in your building.

Remember the three little pigs? The one built his house with straw, the other one built his house with wood and the third one built his house with bricks. The wolf came and he blew two first two houses down. Then he came to the house that was built with stone and he blew, and blew, and he blew but he couldn’t blow it over.

Jesus said: “If any man listens to Me and he does what I say, he is like a man who dug down deep and built his house on the rock and the storms came but could not blow the house over. The fool that does not listen to My teaching is like someone who built his house on the sand and when the storms came the house fell down. Great was the falling of this house.”

Fire will test how you’ve been building. Your character will be tested. What in your character is being tested? How far you’ve been building with the material that’s of the same substance as the foundation: gold, silver and precious stones. Or have you been building with wood, hay and stubble?

Have you felt at times that it seems you are going nowhere?

 That means fire came along.

Have you felt that it’s been going so well and all of the sudden things don’t seem so well anymore?

There was fire. At times you feel that a Word you heard was so powerful and meant so much to you, but suddenly seems to mean nothing to you. Fire came your way after you heard the Message and you couldn’t stand the test because you were building not with the right material. Jesus said: “If you listen to My teachings, you are the one that builds on the rock and when the storms come, your building will not fall.” He kept on saying: “If you’ve got an ear to hear, HEAR.” If your work is burned up, you are still saved, but you lost everything you’ve been building since the last fire.

Why is it that some people excel in their Christian lives and some people don’t? Why is it that people see the progress of some people and not of others? What is happening? God comes with fire and He says: “Let’s see how you’ve been building.” When you stand up there is no notice taken of you because the building, instead of going higher, is burnt down. Thank God the foundation can’t be burnt. The foundation can never be burnt down, so you can always start again.

Hebrews 12:18,22-24 For you have not come [as did the Israelites in the wilderness] to a [material] mountain that can be touched, [a mountain] that is ablaze with fire, and to gloom and darkness and a raging storm
But rather, you HAVE COME to Mount Zion, even to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless multitudes of angels in festal gathering, And to the CHURCH (assembly) of the Firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven, and to the God Who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect and to Jesus, the Mediator (Go-between, Agent) of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks [of mercy], a better and nobler and more gracious message than the blood of Abel [which cried out for vengeance]…

You have come to the church. What is the church? His body. The temple.

UNSHAKABLE THINGS WILL REMAIN

Hebrews 12:25-27 So see to it that you do not reject Him or refuse to listen to and heed Him Who is speaking [to you now]. For if they [the Israelites] did not escape when they refused to listen and heed Him Who warned and divinely instructed them [here] on earth [revealing with heavenly warnings His will], how much less shall we escape if we reject and turn our backs on Him Who cautions and admonishes [us] from heaven? Then [at Mount Sinai] His voice shook the earth, but now He has given a promise: Yet once more I will SHAKE and make tremble not only the earth but also the [starry] heavens. Now this expression, Yet once more, indicates the FINAL REMOVAL and transformation of ALL [that can be] SHAKEN -that is, of that which has been created-in order that WHAT CANNOT BE SHAKEN CAN REMIAN and continue.

If you are shaken and you feel shaken, you’re most probably being built with the wrong material and God wants to remove a few things.

Hebrews 12:28-29 Let us therefore, receiving A KINGDOM that is firm and stable and CANNOT BE SHAKEN, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe…

(1 Peter 2:5 You also as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God though Jesus Christ)

God is going to shake a few things, but we have received an unshakable kingdom. If we’ve then received it, let’s bring offerings that are pleasing to God. That is acceptable worship.

Hebrews 12:29 For our God [is indeed] a CONSUMING FIRE.

Why would God drop a scripture in there that has no context with any of the other scriptures?

God will test His temple. Why? He wants to fill His temple with glory. Only when the house is built, will the house will be filled. God wants to do something so extra-ordinary and so powerful, but He is waiting for a building to come to the front, that will be so solid, so unshakable that will not be touched by fire.

1Corinthians 3:16 -17 Do you not discern and understand that YOU [the whole church at Corinth] ARE GOD’S TEMPLE (His sanctuary), and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you [to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]? If anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.

Jesus came into a physically built temple of Solomon which has been broken down and rebuilt and He said: “I don’t want what is going on in this temple because My house is supposed to be a house of prayer.” He chased the people out and immediately afterward He healed the sick. The Pharisees asked Him who gave Him the authority to do it and His answer was: “Break this temple down. I am actually the temple, so I’m going to build My temple which is My body.”

The church is His body, so you are supposed to be built as a temple – a dwelling place for Almighty God.

TESTING FIRE

Hebrews 6:1 Let us go on to perfection. Perfection is the fullness of the building. Don’t keep on laying foundations – your first belief in Jesus Christ. Once you’ve been led to Christ and you’ve made Jesus the Lord of your life, the foundation is there.

Have you ever felt the fire?

If you’ve said ‘yes’ to Jesus, you’ve felt the fire. The fire tested your character. Did you keep your peace, did you blow your top, did you loose your joy, did you get upset, and did you gossip? That’s what Paul said to the Corinthians: “There is jealousy, strive and contentions among you, so you are children in the Lord. You are babies. You are no further than the foundation.” Fire will come and test you.

The fire comes in unusual forms. If somebody approaches you and says: “Have you heard?” You must shout: “FIRE, FIRE!” Maybe it’s not the devil, but God sending the people. Maybe God sent the gossiper your way, because you are prepared to go deeper and to build higher and He says: “It’s time to test the character.” Hebrews 12:29 God is a consuming fire. God brings the fire, to test your character. Your character is supposed to be love, joy, peace, loving-kindness, gentleness, meekness, self-control, and temperance. Against such there is no law(Galatians 5). God wants to see how far is the fruit of the Spirit have been growing on the tree of your character. Do you have love, joy, peace, longsuffering? Can you suffer long or is your temper to short? Many of us love to say: “Patience, God, teach me patience but please hurry up.”

When you feel the fire, see the straw burn down and you know that the fire has come and you walk away, you can still smell that straw. Why do you repent? Because it means that you were tested in an area and you missed the mark. Somewhere you’ve been building with wood, hay and straw. If you don’t fail, don’t miss, don’t sin why do you want to ask forgiveness? If we now go to your building ground, which material will lie the highest: the gold, silver and precious stones or the wood, hay, and the straw? You must decide for yourself.

YOU ARE THE TEMPLE

1Corinthians 6:15a Do you not see and know that your bodies are members (bodily parts) of Christ (the Messiah)?

The church is His body and that body is the real temple. The church is supposed to be the temple. Going on to perfection, is the building, the temple and not the foundation of repentance. If you keep on repenting, you keep on digging the foundation. There are areas in your life that you’ve got victory in, but there are areas where you do not yet have victory. Those areas mean that the foundation is still open. In that area where you keep on repenting the foundation is still showing. In some places your building is so high that they have already got a light on the edge of the roof, but it doesn’t help because on the other side you can’t put a door in because there is no wall yet.

1 Corinthians 6:15-18 Do you not see and know that your BODIES ARE MEMBERS (bodily parts) of Christ (the Messiah)? Am I therefore to take the parts of Christ and make [them] parts of a PROSTITUTE? Never! Never! Or do you not know and realize that when a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? The two, it is written, shall become one flesh. But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.

When you said: “yes” to Jesus, in Spirit you become one with Christ. What about your body? It’s your body parts that are members of His body, which is built into the church or the temple.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Shun immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity in thought, word, or deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his OWN BODY.

When David fell in sin (went in with Bathsheba the wife of Uriah) and David sent Uriah to the war to be killed, Nathan the Prophet came to him and said: “You have sinned.” David prayed inPsalm 51:4 “Against You, You only, have I sinned.” David didn’t sin against his wife, his father or his mother but only against God. David had a revelation of who the real temple is supposed to be, because when he wanted to build a temple the prophet said: “No you’ve found grace, you can’t build a temple.”

How will God rebuild David’s temple, if David didn’t have a temple?

David prayed a New Testament prayer in Psalm 51:7 Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. You could only be washed after Jesus died on the cross. Isaiah prophesied it in Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.” This is a future prophecy about the Messiah Who will come and take away our sin and unrighteousness.

David went in with Bathsheba. The scripture said: “You sin against your own body if there is immorality.” David said: “God I only sinned against You, because I realize the importance of the body, which is the temple. All other sin is outside, but this is against the body.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body (temple).

Body = Temple
Bringing Honor and Glory = Building
Bought with a price = The Foundation

Ephesians 5:25-30 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things [that she might be holy and faultless]. Even so husbands should love their wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, Because we are members (parts) of His body.

We are members of His flesh and of His bones. Jesus wants us to be more than one Spirit with Him. He wants us to be one body with Him, so that we can be the temple and not the foundation only. Many people are foundation people. Paul said: “I couldn’t speak to you as mature.” Mature people are built people. The others are babies whose work has been tested by fire and it didn’t stand. We became one Spirit with Him, but in sinning, we sin against our body so we never become one body with Him. By not being one body, we cannot be the revealed, glorious church. He wants to present the church to Himself in glory, without spot or wrinkle.

Colossians 1:27 To whom God was pleased to make known how great for the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ within and among you, the Hope of [realizing the] glory.

Christ in you is only a hope of coming forth in the glory. Christ in you is the foundation. Revealed glory is a built temple. The mystery is Christ in us. Christ in us is the first principles (foundation) because it is only a hope of glory.

Ephesians 5:30-33 Because we are members (parts) of His body. For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church.

In Ephesians 4:1-10 Paul is writing to the Ephesians church about Christ who died and was raised again. When He rose from the dead and went to heaven. He gave gifts to the church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.

CHRIST’S INTENTION: A PERFECT CHURCH

Ephesians 4:11-12 And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers. His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church)

Jesus’ intention in giving the gifts was that the church would be perfected, fully equipped and that the church will minister towards each other that they will help in building up the Christ.

He’s intention = He wants the body to be built.
You are a building.

Ephesians 4:13 [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.

The body is supposed to walk like Christ, talk like Christ, be like Christ, be Christ.

Ephesians 4:14-15 So then, we may NO LONGER BE CHILDREN, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead. Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us GROW UP IN EVERY WAY and in ALL THINGS INTO HIM Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

We are growing up INTO Him.

Ephesians 3:16-19 May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality]. May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, MAKE HIS PERMANENT HOME) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the

breadth and length and height and depth

 [of it];

There is the building, it has a breadth, length, height and depth and He wants you to experience the power of the building.

Ephesians 3:19 [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the LOVE OF CHRIST, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be FILLED [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a

body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

God wants you to be a body, fully filled with God Himself!

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]- To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

It means you can come to a place, if you understand this building, where when you think the greatest thoughts God says: “Come on stretch your thoughts, I want to do much more” and when you think: “Just imagine, if God can do that” before you could have imagined it, He has done greater things already. God says: “No matter how big you dream, pray or think, I will do

superabundantly far above that

. You have been filled with God Himself; the God who created this universe.

Ephesians 3:1-5 FOR THIS reason [because I preached that you are thus built up together], I, Paul, [am] the prisoner of Jesus the Christ for the sake and on behalf of you Gentiles- Assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace (His unmerited favor) that was entrusted to me [to dispense to you] for your benefit, [And] that the mystery (secret) was made known to me and I was allowed to comprehend it by direct revelation, as I already briefly wrote you. When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ. [This mystery] was never disclosed to human beings in past generations as it has now BEEN REVEALED to His holy apostles (consecrated messengers) and prophets by the [Holy] Spirit.

The mystery was revealed to the apostles and prophets.

Ephesians 3:6 [It is this:] that the Gentiles are now to be fellow heirs [with the Jews], MEMBERS OF THE SAME BODY and joint partakers [sharing] in the same divine promise in Christ through [their acceptance of] the glad tidings (the Gospel).

The mystery is that all can accept Christ, everybody can have the foundation. The mystery is foundational truth, which is Christ in you, but it is only a hope of a building. It’s not a building it’s just foundation. The mystery is that all can now be saved.

Ephesians 3:7-8 Of this [Gospel] I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s free grace (undeserved favor) which was bestowed on me by the exercise (the working in all its effectiveness) of His power. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints (God’s consecrated people), this grace (favor, privilege) was granted and graciously entrusted: to

proclaim to the Gentiles

the unending (boundless, fathomless, incalculable, and exhaustless) riches of Christ [wealth which no human being could have searched out].

Ephesians 2:19 Therefore you are

no longer outsiders

(exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God’s own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you BELONG to God’s [own] HOUSEHOLD.

(1 Timothy 3:15 If I am detained, you may know how people ought to conduct themselves in the

household of God,

 which is the

church of the living God

, the pillar and stay (the prop and support) of the Truth)

Ephesians 2:20-22 You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone. In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord]. In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit.

God is looking for a temple to fill with His very presence. You must watch how you build and I must watch how I build and we must watch how we build. What do you give to others, what do people receive from you? Do you break down the temple or do you build the temple? Paul says: “If I break down what I’ve tried to build, what have I achieved in Christ.” We are not here to break down but we are here to build up. Watch how you build!

The mystery revealed about the apostles and prophets that lay the foundation is nothing more than presenting Christ to somebody. Everybody can now receive Jesus. The apostles and prophets were the first to go to the heathen nations. Jesus paid the price for ALL.

Ephesians 1:17-23 – The church is His body and that is the temple. He wants to fill it with everything that He has and is. Everything God is and has = Doxa = Glory.

2 Corinthians 4:6-8 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the GLORY of God in the face of Jesus Christ But WE HAVE THIS TREASURE in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

God wants to fill us with His glory.
God wants to fill this earth with His glory and He is going to use you.
