Jeremiah 1:12 says that God watches over His Word; He is the Watchman over His own Word to perform it. He wants performance out of what He says and wants to see it come to pass. Whenever you buy a car and it is said that there is a certain amount of horsepower in its engine, you want to get that performance out of the engine. If you do not get it, they lied to you. God wants a certain amount of performance from His Word.

Isaiah 55:11(KJV) So shall MY WORD be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall NOT RETURN UNTO ME VOID, but it shall ACCOMPLISH that which I please, and it shall PROSPER in the thing whereto I sent it.

If God has a Word and He gives it to us, He is going to watch over it to perform it and every Word that proceeds forth out of His mouth, shall not return empty. He will see to it that His Word will accomplish what it was sent to do, but why does the Word not come to pass in our lives? Is the obstacle God or us? Numbers 23:19 says that God is not a man that He should lie neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He not said and shall He not do it? Has He not spoken and shall it not come to pass? If God said something, He shall accomplish it. The problem is not with God. There is a book filled with promises, but why doesn’t the church walk in those promises? Why are we not healthy, wealthy and successful? The church looks lazy and poor; they look worse that the world. We should not look at them and see how well things are with them, but they are supposed to look at us. We are supposed to be the examples for God.

John 1:1-3 (Amplified) IN THE beginning [before all time] was the WORD (CHRIST), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Isaiah 9:6]. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.

John 1:11-12 (Amplified) He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own-His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him. But to as many as did RECEIVE and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the CHILDREN OF GOD, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name-[Isaiah 56:5].

We receive Jesus as our LORD and Savior when we ask Him into our hearts. You actually receive the Word that was in the beginning and proceeded out of the mouth of God. That Word did not return void to the Father, but He took His own blood and sacrificed it for the salvation of many. He paid the price in full. We now have the written Word; the spoken Word and the indwelling Word; we have the Word in all its forms and it is supposed to do something. The Word is a performing factor. 1 Corinthians 15 says that He proceeded out of the bosom of the Father. Jesus said that He came to do the will of the Father. He finished the work that the Father gave Him when He hung on that cross. Jesus was fully obedient to the work that the Father gave Him. Are we taking the Word and doing what we are supposed to do with the Word?

When you receive the Word, Christ is in you (Colossians 1:27). That is the hope of glory that we’ve received. Galatians 2:20 – It is no longer we that live, but Christ lives in us. Christ is the Word that became flesh. You receive that flesh Word of God to come and dwell within you. That Word is also Seed that is planted. When the Holy Spirit came over Mary, she received the Seed or the Word. Mary said to the angel that it must be with her according to his Word. Mary became pregnant with the Word and she gave birth to the Word and so the Word became flesh. A Body was prepared for Him (Hebrews 10:5). That is why His Words were with power. In the beginning, God said that there must be light and it was so. This Word that was in the mouth of God took on a body. His Word in flesh was so powerful that whatever He commanded happened. His Word does not return to Him void, but does what He says.

After the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you are convicted, you receive Jesus Christ into your life. The Word then becomes flesh in you. Jesus said that the works He did, we shall also do because He went to the Father. When you say that you are a Christian, you say that Christ is in you. Everything that God has and everything that God is is now inside of us. We do not have to live a low life, but we can live the high life of God. Colossians 2:9-10 say that the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily in Jesus and we have received that fullness in us. Hebrews 6:1 says that we must go on to perfection and maturity. We do not have to lay the foundation of the first principles of belief in Christ again, but we can rise to a place of maturity where we come into the image of God. God sent forth the Spirit of His Son that cries out, “Abba Father” (Galatians 4:6). God is our Father and we can call Him that. The same Spirit that made that flesh Body to be Christ, is on the inside of us crying, “Abba Father!” We can now do the same works that Jesus did, because we didn’t receive a minor Spirit, but the exact same Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:9(b) (Amplified) But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God].

When you’ve received Christ, you receive the Word. You are born again of incorruptible Seed (1 Peter 1:19). It causes you to be born again and you are a new creature. All the old things have passed away and you are not the same. You are a Christ-ian. Christ is inside, which is the Word; when you receive Him, you have the power to become a child of God.

John 1:14-17 (Amplified) And the WORD (Christ) BECAME FLESH (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. [Isaiah 40:5]. John testified about Him and cried out, This was He of Whom I said, He, Who comes after me has priority over me, for He was before me. [He takes rank above me, for He existed before I did. He has advanced before me, because He is my Chief.] For out of His fullness (abundance) WE ALL RECEIVED [all had a share and we were all supplied with] ONE GRACE AFTER ANOTHER and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift. For while the Law was given through Moses, GRACE (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) AND TRUTH CAME THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. [Exodus 20:1].

Ephesians 2:1-8 says that we are saved by grace through faith and this is not out of ourselves, it is a gift of God. God so loved the world that He gave His Son. God gave us the gift of grace, which is His Son. The gift is the Son of God that came and lives on the inside of us and that is salvation. The Son is the Word that became flesh and when we take up our responsibility as Christians, we become the Word that is made flesh. Peter’s shadow healed the sick and Paul’s handkerchiefs drove out the demons, because they had Christ is them. When you have Christ in you, you’ve got the Word of God in you. Then you have His power, His nature and His abilities inside of you; His Spirit is in you.

Throughout the Old Testament the Word of the LORD came to the prophets. It also says that the Spirit of the LORD came upon them and when it came upon them, they prophesied the Word. The Spirit and the Word came to them both. We are born again by the Spirit and by the Word. The Spirit comes over us and we accept Christ and so the Word comes on the inside of us. They cannot be separated.

2 Peter 1:21 (Amplified) For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so-it never came by human impulse], but MEN SPOKE FROM GOD who were borne along (MOVED and impelled) BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.

No prophecy came because a man decided to say something. The Old Testament prophets could only prophesy because the Holy Spirit came and breathed and moved upon them.

1 Peter 1:10 (Amplified) The prophets, who prophesied of the grace (divine blessing) which was intended for you, searched and inquired earnestly about this SALVATION.

We are saved by grace and that is a gift. Salvation is the gift of the Son of God taking form on the inside of us – the Word of God taking form on the inside of us. The salvation that the prophets prophesied about was that they wanted to know how the Word would continually stay inside of us. They only prophesied as the Spirit moved them; as the Word came unto them. They prophesied and said that there was coming a generation and they wanted to know how they would be saved. You are saved by grace through faith after you accept the gift, Jesus. You make Jesus the LORD of your life and you are never the same. You can go back to the world, but you will not fit in. You are a new creature, because the Word is now in flesh.

1 Peter 1:11 (Amplified) They sought [to find out] to whom or when this was to come which the Spirit of Christ working WITHIN THEM was indicating when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow [them].

When the Word or the Spirit came to the prophets, Christ’s Spirit entered them, enabling them to prophesy. In the beginning the Word was and the Word came to the prophets and they prophesied when the Spirit moved upon them. They prophesied with the Spirit of Christ on the inside of them. Something happened on the inside of them and that caused them to prophesy. They prophesied and wanted to find out how that Spirit was going to abide on the inside of people. The prophets prophesied and afterwards they were only mere men. The Spirit entered on the inside of them to prophesy, but they wanted to know who the generation would be that the Spirit of Christ would abide in. Jesus said that the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive. The Word He spoke was Spirit and Life (John 6:63). The Word He spoke was not His own, but He spoke the Words that the Father spoke.

Spirit and Life equals God’s Word. It does not matter how it came, Christ’s Spirit entered the prophets and that caused them to prophesy. They prophesied about the salvation that should come by accepting the Spirit of Christ. It comes into us and it is no longer us that live, but Christ that lives on the inside of us. The Word that is Spirit and Life is inside of us. If you do not have the Spirit of Christ, you do not have Him. You must be born again by the Word and the Spirit of God.

When Jesus went into the wilderness, the Spirit led Him there to be tempted of the devil (Matthew 4). Do not always rebuke devils, but make sure that it is not perhaps God. The Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted. God wants to see what is on the inside of you. The devil came to Jesus and told Him that if He was the Son of God, He should turn the stones into bread. God has given us the Spirit of the Son and He loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son. Jesus told the devil that man should not live from bread alone, but from every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). The Word that Jesus speaks, is Spirit and Life. Man lives from every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. The Words that Jesus spoke came from the Father, Who sent Him and those Words are Spirit and they are Life. It is not speaking your own words, but the Words of God. Jesus was saying that He is actually God in the flesh; He is the Word that came from the Father and is now dwelling and flesh and the Words that proceeds out of His mouth was coming from the Father, Who sent Him. He is also the gift that comes from God – the Son that left the earth so that we can have the same Spirit inside of us. When you now speak the Word, it is the Words that come from God and then mountains will move. The Word, the Seed or the Christ Spirit is now with us and even in us, till the end of the age. The fullness of the Godhead now dwells in us. All the abilities, nature and power are ready to be released from inside us.

How will we get to the place where every Word that we speak will be Spirit and Life?

In John 8 Jesus said that the Father never left Him, because He always did what was pleasing in the Father’s sight. Jesus could only speak what the Father said, because the Father was always with Him. The promise that the Father was always with Him, was the fact that Jesus always did what was pleasing in His sight. When the Father told Him to get into a boat with the disciples, He did it and they went over to the other side of the lake. There was a fierce storm and the disciples asked Jesus if He didn’t care that they would drown, but He said what the Father said and that was that they were going over. He was not talking about sinking, but going over to the other side. Jesus told the storm to be still and they went over. If the storm didn’t calm down, they would still have gone over. Jesus got the Word from the Father and He stayed with it. The Spirit that causes the Word to have power always led Jesus.

Revelation 19:10 says that the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophesy. Jesus said that as He was walking, He followed every Word that the Father said. Everything works when you live by the proceeding Word of God. A proceeding Word means the next Word, the following Word or the forth coming Word. It means that something is coming and you must just wait for it. How do you know where to go? You’ve got to have a proceeding Word; you have to live by it. God watches over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). So shall the Word be that proceeded out of the mouth of God, it shall do what it is sent for, prosper in it and not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Every time that God speaks to you and you obey the command, God will watch over that Word to perform it.

If you speak outside of the territory of God’s will, things do not work out. It is then that you start fighting and complaining and usually end up seeking for prayer and counseling. You do not know what to do, because you did not obey. The Holy Spirit is there to lead us. When the Spirit of Truth comes, no one will have to teach you in that day, because the Spirit will teach you. People get that scripture become rebellious and leave the church, because they say that they have the Holy Spirit to teach them. That scripture actually means that you get a proceeding Word from the Spirit within and the Word that entered, that you obeyed and spoke with accomplish what it is sent to do – there will be results. As you walk in the Spirit, the Spirit of Truth that works with the Word teaches you and you do not have to seek for a counselor to seek for a Word for you. When you seek for a Word from other people, it actually says that you are far away from being led by the Spirit. We’ve got to grow up and mature.

The prophets that prophesied were looking for the people that would find the salvation and they wanted to see what would happen when the salvation comes. Salvation came and Christ is now in us; it is no longer us who are alive, but Christ Who lives in us. The life we live is to the glory of God and not for ourselves any more.

When the first Word comes to you, you do it and everything works out. After that, a proceeding Word comes and you start fighting. Every time a proceeding Word comes, you are challenged with a choice and this choice will bring two roads. The one is doubt and the other is proceed or next. If you do not want the Word or agree with it, you can cancel it or come back later to agree. You can either proceed or doubt.

Jesus told Peter to get into the boat and go. Jesus went to the mountain and in Matthew 14 it says that He watched them as they struggled. He deliberately sent them into the storm.

Many times when we come into a storm we will get people that will agree and rebuke devils, but who says that it is not God trying to give a proceeding Word? Jesus was still watching them and in the fourth watch He decided to come to them, walking on the water. They were terrified and screamed that it was a ghost. Jesus told them not to fear, because it was He. The disciples had the first Word to go, but Peter now wanted a proceeding Word when Jesus said it is He. Jesus told him to come and Peter got out. Then the choice came: to proceed or to quit.

You had a Word to start the business. Why do you look at the bank balance? Peter said the same thing. When he looked at the circumstances the business started sinking. Jesus asked him why he doubted. He had to stick with the proceeding Word. There are things that you’ve said that God told you and now you look at the circumstances. You run all over but to God. You do not go back to the first Word and stick to it or look for a proceeding Word, but you try to come out of what you’ve said that God said. We must rise to a greater level of maturity and responsibility. You live by the proceeding Word out of the mouth of God.

In 2 Kings 20 the Word of the LORD came to Isaiah, the prophet and told him to go to Hezekiah, the king. Isaiah is a prophet and the Spirit moved upon him to speak a Word. He went to the palace and told the king to get his house in order, because he was going to die and not recover. Isaiah turned around and walked away and before he reached the middle court, the Word of the LORD came to him and told him to go back and tell the king that he would live. That is the place where we rebuke devils. When the second Word opposes the first Word, we must realize that the Spirit of Christ is on the inside of us. Isaiah didn’t argue with God, but stuck to the Word, went back to the king and told him the Word.

We must come to a place where we come to a stand still and hear what the Spirit says to us. Are we still sticking to the first Word, going on to a proceeding Word or are we busy running around and doubting? Hebrews 4:12 says that the Word of the LORD is quick, powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. It cuts and divides the soul and the spirit and lays open the intents of the heart. Your soul is the one that doubts and the spirit the one that believes. When the Word comes, it cuts to divide whether you are going to believe your soul or believe your spirit. Your mind, emotions and will can dominate you to doubt or you can stick to the Spirit Word and believe God.

How many Words have you received and what are you doing with them? It does not have to be a prophet’s Word, but something on the inside that told you to change and perhaps to do something. When you are challenged, do you doubt or are you doing what the Word expects? God will give you a new proceeding Word, but sometimes you’ve got to go back and look at what you’ve done with the previous Word. When you do something that comes from God, you will not always have favor from people, but you’ve got to do what God says.

Joseph had a dream that his brothers and father will bow before him – he had a Word from the LORD. The family was not impressed and his brothers wanted to kill him. Eventually they sold him and he landed in the house of Potiphar. There his wife tried to seduce him and he ran away. He was taken to prison, but the LORD was with him. He only had that Word. When the baker and the butler also landed with him in the prison, they both had dreams and Joseph was able, with the help of God, to give them the meaning of the dreams. He was in the prison because of a dream. Our dreams do not always bring success. When they were released from the prison, they got what they dreamt, but forgot about Joseph and two years later did the butler remember Joseph when Pharaoh had a dream and all the wise men of the country could not tell the dream. They got Joseph and he interpreted the dream. They made him the Prime Minister, because of his wise council. Pharaoh gave Joseph his ring and told him that only in the throne Pharaoh was higher than him. Joseph had all the say in Egypt. Then the dreams of Pharaoh came to pass. First was the seven years of abundance and they stored the grain in barns and then the drought came. Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt to buy grain and they had to bow before Joseph.

The Word says that you must not touch the anointed of the LORD and do His prophets no harm (Psalm 105:15). Just because you do not always understand them doesn’t give you the right to touch or harm them. When Elijah ran away from Jezebel when she gave him a word that she was going to kill him, he forgot that you can not touch the anointed of the LORD and do His prophets no harm (1 Kings 19). He ran to Mount Horeb and there God asked him what he was doing there. He was at the point where he said that he had had enough battles and that he was going to quit. In our circumstances, you can say that you are tired of people trampling on you and everything is not working out. Elijah said that he was the only one left, but it was not even true because there were 2000 prophets left that didn’t bow their knees to Baal. You cannot look back. God passed by in the earthquake and the fire and the wind, but Elijah didn’t hear Him. In the quiet stillness, Elijah heard the still small voice. It was Elijah’s inner man, his conscience or his spirit within. He came to himself like the prodigal son. He went back to the proceeding Word and realized that he was not supposed to be there. Elijah thought that he could have all the glory what Moses had on that same mountain, but it was not what God had planned for him. God had a job for Elijah in the city and he was not supposed to be on the mountain. God then gave him a Word to go back and anoint the king and Elisha the prophet. Elijah was restored and went on as a prophet. Elijah’s relationship was restored with God and God sent him back to Ahab and he prophesied their deaths. Elijah was back in the same power.

Are you at a place where God is asking you what you are doing there?

Psalm 105:15-24 (KJV) Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron: UNTIL THE TIME THAT HIS WORD CAME: THE WORD OF THE LORD TRIED HIM. The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. He made him lord of his house and ruler of all his substance: To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom. Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

How long are you waiting for the Word God has already given you? Are you running away or are you sitting till the Word tested you? Are you sticking to the last Word because you still do not have the next Word? We should stick to what God last spoke to us, finishing the work He gave us until He speaks the next or proceeding Word.
