Ephesians 3:20 (Amplified) Now to HIM WHO, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, IS ABLE to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]…

God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly far above all that you can ever dare think or ask. God is able! We must change our attitude about the God that we serve. Daniel’s three friends were cast into a furnace when they did not want to bow to the statue of the king. They told the king that he could cast them in the fire because they were not going to bow before his statue. They told him that their God was able to deliver them out of the fire. After they threw them into the fire, they saw a fourth man in the fire and the ones that threw them into the fire were burnt to ashes. The three men came out of the fire and their clothes did not even smell smoke. When Daniel did not want to bow to the king and kept on worshipping God three times a day, they threw him into the lion’s den. The next morning the king came to the den and asked Daniel if the God that he serve was able to deliver him from the lion’s mouth.

Ephesians 6:13-14 (Amplified) Therefore PUT ON GOD’S COMPLETE ARMOR, that YOU MAY BE ABLE to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to STAND [firmly in your place]. STAND therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God…

When you put on God’s armor and not your own, you will be able because God is able. You are the one that is in need of the power and the glory. Because God is able, He is telling us that we can be able.

God is holy and that brings holiness.
God is right and that brings righteousness.
God is pure and that brings purity.
God is just and that brings justification.
God is great and that brings power.
That is why God is able!

When you take on the whole armor of God, you will be able and when you are able, you will be standing no matter what the crisis demands. You will be standing no matter what any situation demands. You will stand when an evil day comes your way. You will stand and then you will be able to do exceedingly, abundantly far above what the situation demands. God is able, but if you put on His armor, you are in the place to be able to stand.

People are falling all around us. They crumble under pressure and are struggling with stress and fear. When you struggle, you are not standing, but creeping on the floor. Most Christians are on a high during a worship service, but the next day you’ve got to scrape them off the floor. When the circumstance demands you to get up and go and you cannot get the strength, because everything seems to be against you, know that our God is able; no matter how hot the fire or how hungry the lions. We are now in the battle and if we want to win, we must know that we are able to stand because He makes us able.

In Exodus 14:10-14 Moses and the children of Israel were standing beside the Red Sea ready to go to their promises. We all love the promises, but the fulfillments of the promises are better. They did not have a way of escape, because Pharaoh was right behind them. Moses told them not to fear, but to stand still and see the salvation of the LORD. He told them that as they see the Egyptians that day; they would never see them again. God then commanded Moses to take his rod and smite the water. He had to do something.

We must stand and not fall down, throwing tantrums. Know that you will get through the circumstance; God will make you able, because He is able. You are God’s child and because He is able, He will make you able. We must just stand! That is what God expects from us – He does not want us to run or to fall or to sit. Stand up!

Ezekiel 2:1-2 (KJV) And he said unto me, Son of man, STAND upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the Spirit entered into me when he spoke unto me and SET ME UPON MY FEET, that I heard him that spoke unto me.

Ezekiel was sitting amongst the exiles beside the Chebar River. They were weeping and sitting and while they were doing that, God opened the heavens for Ezekiel and told him to stand. When he decided to stand, the Spirit entered him and caused him to stand up on his feet. When a standing attitude comes into your life, God enables you to stand. You only had to make the decision to stand and then God’s Spirit will enter you and cause you to stand up. When the Spirit caused Ezekiel to stand, He began to show him visions.

In 2 Chronicles 20 Jehoshaphat had a battle against three armies. They greatly feared and they began to seek God. They started fasting and they prayed. They cried on the Name of the LORD and said to God that their eyes were on Him although they didn’t have any power in them against those armies. The Spirit of the LORD came in their midst and told them (through the prophet) not to fear, but to go up against them and not to fight for the battle was the His and not theirs. He told them to stand and to see the salvation of the LORD. You therefore, do not fight, stand and see the salvation, because God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly far above all that we can think or pray for. If you get the attitude of standing, God’s Spirit will enter you and you will see visions of victory.

Psalm 78:15-20 (KJV) He cleft the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yea, they spoke against God; they said: “CAN GOD furnish a table in the wilderness?” Behold, He smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; CAN HE give bread also? CAN HE provide flesh for his people?

The Israelites saw God doing mighty miracles and then they started questioning God and asked whether He can give them bread and meat?

Psalm 78:21-22 (Amplified) Therefore, when the LORD heard, He was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob, His anger mounted up against Israel. IN GOD THEY BELIEVED NOT [they relied not on Him, they adhered not to Him], and they trusted not in His salvation (HIS POWER TO SAVE).

Have you ever seen God doing something? Have you ever seen His Hand moving in your life? It does not matter how small or great. You may just have married the right wife or get the promotion you wanted. After seeing Him work, why do you doubt Him for anything else? Why do you struggle and ask if God can? God proved Himself! He can! God is able! Why does that question whether God can or not, arise in your heart? Doubt causes you to ask that question.

People come to you and tell you that God helped them last year, but they do not know about this year. God helped them with a certain situation, but they do not know if God will help them in another situation they are in. When God worked the previous year, God did not change in His rightness and justice. Malachi 3:6 says that He is God and He does not change. Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. What made last year different from this year? If God did it for Joshua, Moses, Gideon and Joseph and Daniel, why can’t God do something for you?

Deuteronomy 3:1,2(a) (KJV) Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan. And Og the king of Bashan came out against he all his people, to battle at Edrei and us. And the LORD said unto me: “FEAR HIM NOT…”

All through the Word God says that you must not fear. Hebrews 13:5 says God is our Helper and therefore we shall not fear for what can a man do unto us? 2 Timothy 1:6-7 says that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Deuteronomy 3:2-3 (KJV) And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shall do unto him as thou did unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon. So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until NONE WAS LEFT to him remaining.

These people wore the armor of God and they were standing like Jehoshaphat and Moses. They lived Ephesians 6 before it was written. They did not fear anything. If God is for you, who can be against you?

Deuteronomy 3:4-6,20-24 (KJV) And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns great many. And WE UTTERLY DESTROYED THEM, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.

Deuteronomy 3:20-24 (KJV) Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall you return every man unto his possession, which I have given you. And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying: “Thy eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms whither thou pass. You shall not fear them: for the LORD your God He shall fight for you. And I besought the LORD at that time, saying, O Lord GOD, thou has BEGUN TO SHOW Thy servant thy greatness, and Thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that CAN DO according to Thy works, and according to Thy might?

The Israelites came against two kings and took thirty cities that were walled around. They were on their way to the Promised Land with Moses in charge. They slew those people, because God said that they must not fear for He is with them. Moses called Joshua and told him that he had only begun to see what God can do! Then he told Joshua not to fear for he was going to take the land. Moses could not go in and he started to prophesy over Joshua. Joshua heard Moses saying to the people not to fear and to stand. In Joshua 1 God came to Joshua and told him that Moses is dead and that he does not have to fear, but he should be strong and courageous. He told him that as He was with Moses, so He would be with Joshua and then commanded him to go and take the land.

In Numbers 14 Moses sent twelve spies to the Promised Land. Joshua was one of them. When they came back, the other said that they could not take the land because of the giants. Joshua and Caleb were the only two that said they were able to go and take the land. God said that they were able and they confessed that they could. They said God can and therefore they could; believing what God said. He did not refer to any other miracle, but only that he believed God.

We do not pray for people because we see other people being healed, but because God says that we shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. We do not preach the Word because we saw sinners being saved. Paul said that he went to Jerusalem bound by the Holy Spirit and not another reason. We go and do because of the command of God to go. You do not ask God to bless your finances because He did it last year. You give because God says that He supplies in all your needs according to His riches in Glory. We ask God for healing because He promised that there shall be no sick and feeble amongst you. We ask God for a child because He says that there shall be no barren amongst you. God watches over us because He promised to do it.

God waited until all the ‘Can God?’ people were dead and then He came to Joshua and told him to send spies to the Promised Land. Joshua only sent two spies being reminded of the twelve that went in the previous time and only two that came back with a positive report.

Joshua 2:9-11 (KJV) And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For WE HAVE HEARD how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did unto the TWO KINGS of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you UTTERLY DESTROYED. And as soon as we had heard these things, our HEARTS MELTED, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, HE IS GOD IN HEAVEN ABOVE, and in earth beneath.

Forty years after the Red Sea, the people in Canaan still remembered the mighty deeds of God and they were terrified. In Psalm 78 the Israelites doubted if God could give them bread although they saw how He provided water for them from the rock. On the other side of the Jordan, those people said that the Israelites could take the land, because they heard how the Red Sea opened.

The twelve spies when to the Promised Land the first time and two said that God can. The other ten doubted. Forty years later the “Can God?” people died and the ones that were left were those who said, “God can.” God told Joshua not to fear, but to be courageous. God reminded him of the two kings and told him to remember it when he came to the Jordan. The two spies went to Rahab’s house and she told them how the people of Canaan heard of the two kings that were defeated and that they were afraid. They were fainting at the expectation of the people of Israel that were going to take the land.

Joshua 2:23-24 (KJV) So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them. And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD HAS DELIVERED INTO OUR HANDS ALL THE LAND; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

When the spies came back from Canaan their report was that the land was already theirs. They were still on the other side of the Jordan, but they knew that God was able. They still had to march around Jericho for seven days; they still had to take the land but knew that they could.

When they had to take Ai they were very brave and thought that it would be easy to take the city because it was so small, but they made a great mistake of which they had to repent. They realized there that they were able because God made them able. They realized that they could only do it because God could and not because of their own achievements.

You can because God can. We become able because God is able. We can do it, because God can do it. You can stand because God causes you to stand. Paul wrote and said that when you stand you must watch out that you do not fall. You must know that you will never be able if God does not make you able. When you live in a humble attitude and realize that God gives strength and ability and grace, you can go and minister to people and know that it is God doing the work and not your strength and abilities. You see people rise and then fall, because they start relying on their own strength or previous accomplishments. Recognize God in everything that you do and He will give you His ways to go into. Do not think you know how to do things when you did it previously and saw God’s hand on it. Know Him in everything, every day and every moment of the day. We are able to stand because of Him. We can because of Him. It is not what we saw, but what God said!

Matthew 7 says that when you hear these things of God and do them, you are like a wise man that dug deep and founded his house on a rock. When the storms came and beat against that house it stood. When you do not do the things God says, you are compared to a fool. You build your house on the sand and when the storm comes, the house will fall. It is not what God did, but Who He is and what He said.

Ephesians 3:20 says that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly far above what we can dare to ask or think. Stand therefore in the full armor of God and you will also be able. It is not because of who you are, but because you wear God’s armor. It is not your armor. God is able and He can. We trust in Him and that makes us able so that we can!
