I’M ASCENDING TO GOD’S MOUNTAIN

Psalm 91 (KJV) He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day. Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that waste at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thy eyes shall thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou have made the LORD, Who is my refuge even the most High, thy habitation. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

Psalm 27 (KJV) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou said, Seek you my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou have been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thy heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalm 27 is actually Psalm 91 in other words. The LORD is our Refuge and Shelter. He is our Covering and Shield. Nothing that comes against us will hurt us, because we are hidden in His Secret Place. Moses wrote Psalm 91 when he was tending the sheep of his father-in-law. He saw a sign on the mountain of a bush that was burning. He left the sheep and went up the mountain and there he met God. In Exodus 18-34 we read how Moses met with God regularly on the mountain and every time they met, a cloud covered the mountain. Moses went into the cloud on the mountain and he saw God face to face. The meetings were so glorious that his own face was shining with the glory of the LORD when he came down from the mountain. On that mountain God showed him what the tabernacle was supposed to look like. God told Moses to go back and build a pattern or a shadow of the true thing. Moses saw the real thing on the mountain in the Presence of the LORD.

COME WITH A PURE HEART TO THE MOUNTAINTOP

Psalm 24:1-6(a) (Amplified) The earth is the LORD’S and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it. For He has founded upon the seas and established it upon the currents and the rivers. WHO SHALL GO UP TO THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place? He who has clean hands and a PURE HEART, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of those who seek Him [who inquire of and for Him and of necessity require Him], who SEEK YOUR FACE…

It sounds like Psalm 27. It is the people with clean hands and a pure heart who will go up to the mountain of the LORD. These people will not only stand in the Holy Place, but also carry away blessings of the LORD.

How do we get that pure heart to stand in that Holy Place, so that when we come down we will have the blessings of the LORD with us?

Moses’ face was shining when he came from that place. 2 Corinthians 3 tells us that if his face shone of the glory there, it must be more for us now that we’ve received the Spirit of grace. We must have more than what Moses had.

When you go up the mountain, you will be faced with trails. Not everybody has the desire to reach the top. There are trail walkers and trailblazers. Some people pave the way up the mountain, but not all reach the top. Some people die on the way up. A part of the company would camp out or stay behind, while the rest will dare to go all the way till they reach the top. There are not many that can tell of that experience or have a photo to show that they were on the top. In the same way, there are not many who carry away blessings from the mountaintop to prove that they were in God’s Presence. Those who have accessed that place do not only tell, but show the proof that they were in the Presence. People all around you will see that you were in the Presence. Are you the city that is set on the hill (Matthew 5:14)? Do people talk about what you have or do people avoid you because you intimidate them with your talking? Is there any proof in your walking?

When you climb the mountain there can be a lot of things that can distract you from getting to the top. Some of them can be the most beautiful bush trails or it can be a butterfly. Sometimes it can be a cave, but the people that have set their minds on reaching the top do not care about the bush trails or about the scenery. They have specific time set and they want to get to the top.

KEEP YOUR MIND STAYED ON HIM

Hebrews 12:1-3 (KJV) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a CLOUD of witnesses, let us LAY ASIDE every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us. And let us run with PATIENCE the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be WEARIED and faint in your minds.

The cloud is on the mountaintop.

Hebrews 12:1-3 (Amplified) THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us. And let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us. Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [Psalm 110:1]. Just think of Him Who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself [reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you may NOT GROW WEARY or EXHAUSTED, LOSING HEART and RELAXING and FAINTING IN YOUR MINDS.

Our eyes must always be on Jesus alone. He is our vision. He is the Author and the Finisher of our faith. That is where your focus is supposed to be. When your eyes are on Him, you will not look at the distractions. If you do not look at the distractions, you will not grow weary. You will not loose heart or relax or faint in your mind. To not faint in your mind you must not loose heart.

If you want to go to the mountain of the LORD, you must have a pure heart. Those people carry away the blessings of the LORD. On your way to the mountaintop there can be a lot of distractions that can cause you to loose heart. There are not a lot of people that can tell you about the mountaintop experience. To get to the mountaintop, you must not get distracted and that can only be attained if you have a pure heart. If your eyes are on Jesus and you are not looking at the distractions, your mind will not faint and you will not loose heart. There is a connection between the heart and the mind that will cause you to get to the mountaintop. You will not grow weary and be exhausted. You will make it all the way.

PEACE OF MIND AND HEART

A pure heart, can also be a perfect heart.

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) Thou wilt keep him in PERFECT PEACE, whose MIND is stayed on thee: because he trusts in Thee.

God will keep you in perfect peace if your mind is stayed on Him. If you fix your vision and your focus on Jesus and if you have your mind set on Him, you will not be distracted. You will not grow weary and loose heart. You will make it to the top of the mountain.

Philippians 4:6-7 (Amplified) Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And GOD’S PEACE [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and MOUNT GUARD OVER YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS in Christ Jesus.

God’s peace will keep your heart and your mind. God will keep you in perfect peace if your mind is stayed on Him and if you cast all your cares and anxieties on Him. You must throw all your cares and distractions on Him and look to Him and then you will go to the top of the mountain and carry away the blessings of the LORD. That peace is the peace which passes all understanding.

Ephesians 1:17-18(a) (KJV) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. The EYES OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING being enlightened…

You go to the mountaintop experience alone, but when you return, people will know that you were there. You do not go there when all eyes are upon you. To get there you must have a pure heart. Proverbs 4:23 says that you must protect your heart with all diligence for out of it flows all the issues of life. The proof of a pure heart is in the blessings that are upon your spiritual life. To have a pure heart and to stand in the Presence, there must be no distractions.

Most of the time you are part of a company of people that struggles, but when you go to the mountaintop, you go alone and do not care about the party. You do not care about those who do not make it. You have the vision to go up to the mountain and the people who cannot make it should not distract you. You want to have the photo and a flag on the top of the mountain that proves you were there.

When your vision is on Jesus, you will not loose heart or grow weary. If you have lost heart, you’ve been distracted. Distractions are a proof that there are weights on your path and it is called sin. Anything that is not of faith is sin. If you are not running the race any more, it means that you have fainted in your mind. You do not have the peace that is guarding your mind and your heart in Christ Jesus. You do not have the peace that goes beyond understanding. Perfect peace comes to those whose minds are stayed and focused on Jesus and not on the circumstances and the situations.

A PURE MIND CREATES A PURE HEART

Ephesians 1:18 (KJV) The EYES OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING being enlightened that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.

Ephesians 1:18(a) (Amplified) By having the EYES OF YOUR HEART flooded with light…

God must open the eyes of our hearts.

Ephesians 4:17-18 (KJV) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the VANITY OF THEIR MIND. Having the UNDERSTANDING darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the BLINDNESS OF THEIR HEART…

Paul prays that God will open the eyes of their understanding, which can also be said to be the mind and the heart. The mind has an influence on the heart. God wants to open the understanding of your mind so that your heart’s understanding can be enlightened. Your pure heart depends on your pure mind. If the eyes of your mind are opened and you can see the riches, your heart will be enlightened and will not be troubled. John 14:1 Jesus says that your heart must not be troubled. You work on your soul to become spiritual. You do not work on your heart. You work on your mind to get your heart right. You work on your soul to get your spirit right. Man is a living soul and not a living spirit. The Spirit of God makes you a living soul.

Philippians 4:1 (Amplified) For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [FIX YOUR MINDS on them].

Colossians 3:1-3 say that if you have been raised with Christ, you must set your mind and keep it set on the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father. Keep the eyes of your mind on Jesus; then you will not be distracted on your way to the mountaintop and grow weary. You will see His face and stand in His Presence on the mountain, but the pure heart is the secret. The blessings will come, but you must get the eyes of the understanding enlightened and the eyes of the heart to see. You must have the peace of God to guard your heart and your mind. Therefore your must set your mind and keep it set on Jesus. Not one moment you must take your mind or your soul or thoughts of off Jesus, but fix your focus on Him. Then you will have perfect peace, which means that you think right.

Philippians 4:9 (Amplified) Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the GOD OF PEACE (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) WILL BE WITH YOU.

Let the peace of God rule in your heart. The peace of God will be an umpire that will settle with all finality all questions that arise in your minds.

Colossians 1:21-22(a) (Amplified) And although you at one time were estranged and alienated from Him and were of hostile ATTITUDE OF MIND in your wicked activities. Yet now has [Christ, the Messiah] reconciled [you to God]…

Your trouble and your victory are in your mind. You work on the mind. You must set your mind on Jesus. The eyes of your mind must be enlightened. If your mind is right you will have a pure heart.

Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) For as he THINKS in his HEART, so is he…

Your thought life determines your spiritual life. Your thoughts determine how pure your heart is. The peace of God will decide or act as umpire over your heart and your mind. Do not try to work out someone else’s spirituality, but work out your own (Philippians 2:12). The only thing that nobody can help you with is your own mind. It cannot be prayed right or preached right. You alone have to decide what you are thinking. You have to renew your mind. You cannot think for another person. You alone must listen and decide to renew your mind. If you are wicked in your mind, it makes you a wicked person. In the same way you can think righteous thoughts and be a righteous man. A mind that is right gives you a pure heart.

If you think right,
Your heart is light.
And your face will be bright!

If your mind is right, you have eyes to see. You look way from distractions and you have vision. On the way to the mountaintop your heart will be light and you will not grow weary. You will get to the top of the mountain and your face will be bright. You will come back shining with the blessing of the LORD. You do not have to proclaim it, but people will see it. Look away from the distractions, they will always be there and look to Jesus. If you are feeling that you are in the valley, realize that you do not have to stay in the valley.

Matthew 5:8 says that the pure in heart is blessed for they shall see God. God is on the top of the mountain. Moses saw God face to face on the mountain. The pure in heart will see God face to face. You get a pure heart by thinking right. You get the perfect peace when your mind is set on Him and then your heart will be pure. Do not try to work on your heart, but get your mind renewed. We were enemies of God because of wrong thinking in our minds. The heathen are darkened in the eyes of the understanding of their minds. The eyes of our understanding must be enlightened so that we can see.

James 4:8 (Amplified) DRAW NEAR TO GOD, and he will draw nigh to you. CLEANSE YOUR HANDS, you sinners; and PURIFY YOUR HEARTS, you DOUBLE MINDED.

Drawing near to God means to you go up to the mountaintop. Psalm 24 says that those who have a pure heart and clean hands can go up to the mountain of the LORD. To clean your hands and to purify your heart means that you must get single minded. Matthew 6:22 & Luke 11:34 say that your eyes must be single or you must be single-minded. The eyes are the windows of the soul. The eye shows what is in your mind. Get rid of double mindedness and become single-minded by focusing on Jesus alone. When you are focused on Him, you are qualified as someone with clean hands and a pure heart. You will not grow weary and will ascend the mountain of the LORD. You will see His Face in His Presence and come back with the blessings of the LORD.

To be single-minded is to have only one thought. You are unspiritual if your mind is filled with the worries about other peoples’ unspirituality. Degrading and judging does not prove spirituality. Uplifting people to a higher standard and not lowering them proves spirituality.

Romans 8:1-2 (Amplified) THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. [John 3:18] For the LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

When you have the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, there will be no condemnation and you will be in the Spirit.

Romans 7:21-23(a) (Amplified) So I find it to be a law (rule of action of my being) that when I want to do what is right and good, evil is ever present with me and I am subject to its insistent demands. For I endorse and delight in the Law of God in my inmost self [with my new nature]. [Psalm 1:2]. But I discern in my bodily members [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law (rule of action) at war against the LAW OF MY MIND…

If you live in the Spirit you will not be condemned. In the flesh there is a thing that wars against the law that is in the mind. Hebrews 8:10 says that God comes and write His laws on our minds and in our hearts. The law of the Spirit is upon our minds – it is about your thoughts. Don’t become spooky and judge and criticize trying to find out who according to you is spiritual and unspiritual. You must make the choice to run your own race and get your crown and your prize. You must get your own heart pure and your own hands clean by being single-minded and by thinking God’s thoughts all the time. God wrote His thoughts out, so it is easy to think it. He put His thoughts on paper to make easy for you to think it. In Psalm 119 the writer says that he will meditate on God’s Word and Laws day and night. Joshua 1:8 says that when you meditate on His Word or thoughts day and night, you will be prosperous and deal wisely and have good success. You must renew your mind by thinking on the higher things – the things that are above where Christ is.
