THE LIGHT OF YOUR TEMPLE

When Jesus cleansed the temple, the people asked Him what sign He could give them to prove the authority by which He did it. His answer was that they should break down the temple and that He would build it again in three days. They did not understand that He was talking about the temple of His body. John 2:14-22

When He finished cleansing the temple, He cured the sick. Matthew 21:12-14. As soon as the temple is clean, the temple will be cured. We are the body of Jesus Christ, His churchEphesians 1:22-23. We are the temples of the Holy Spirit and God dwells within us and therefore we must be careful how we build. When we build we use gold, silver and costly stones or wood, clay and stubble. The fire of God will come and test the building and what is shaken and burnt will not remain, but the rest will. 1 Corinthians 3:9-16 the fire will test whether we built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. We must watch how we build, because we are building God’s temple; which we are individually and also corporately. There is power when each one of us comes with anointing together as the temple in unity. One can put a thousand to flight and two put ten thousand to flight. It increases as more people come together.

God wants to fill the house with glory. If the house is built, the house shall be filled. God wants to fill His house, which means us, with His Glory. Hebrews 2 says that Jesus wants to come in the midst of the worshipping congregation and make the Name of the Father known.

THE LIGHT BURNS IN THE TEMPLE

1 Samuel 3:1 (Amplified) And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was rare and precious in those days; there was no frequent or widely spread vision.

There were not much word and visions in the days of Samuel. When the Word of the LORD has its rightful place in the church, we will have visions and dreams again. Acts 2 / Joel 2 declare that God will pour out His Spirit in the last days and the young and the old shall dream dreams and see visions.

1 Samuel 3:2(KJV) And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he COULD NOT SEE…

The priest could not see and that is why there were not many visions.

1 Samuel 3:3(Amplified) The LAMP of God had not yet gone out IN THE TEMPLE of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was lying down…

Luckily the lamp of God was still burning in the temple.

THE LIGHT IS THE WORD

1 Samuel 3:4,7,21 (KJV)…that the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I…
…Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the WORD of the LORD yet revealed unto him…
…And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the WORD of the LORD.

The Word appeared unto Samuel. John 1:1,4 says that the Word was in the beginning and the Word was with God and the Word was God. In Him was the life and it is the light of man. Samuel had a revelation; God revealed Himself to Samuel through the Word, which is the light. John 2:19-21 says that He was talking of the temple of His Body when He told them to destroy it and that it shall be built in three days. If the temple had to have the lamp of the LORD burning, and Jesus is the Light, He will bring revelation to us. Samuel was prepared to spend time in the temple where the light was burning in the presence of the LORD. Jesus’ body is the real temple. There has to be a lamp in the temple. Revelation 21:23 says that the Lamb is the Light.

John 1:1-4 (Amplified) In the beginning [before all time] was the WORD (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Isaiah. 9:6] He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. In Him was LIFE, and the Life was the LIGHT OF MEN.

The LORD came as the Word to reveal Himself to Samuel. Jesus is the Temple and also the Light of the temple and wants to reveal Himself to us in the most precious way. John 8 and 9says that He is the Light of the world and as long as you have the light, you should walk in the light. In John 9 the man who was born blind was healed and Jesus said that He is the Light and the works of God are to bring light into the world. While the Light is there, He must work the works of God. Light is also the Glory of God. If the works of Jesus is the Light of God, it is the Glory that healed the man. In John 2:11 before He said that they must break the temple down, when He turned the water into wine, He revealed His Glory. Miracles reveal Glory and it is the Light.

John 1:6-9 (Amplified) There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. [Malachi 3:1]. This man came to witness, that he might testify of the Light, that all men might believe in it [adhere to it, trust it, and rely upon it] through him. He was not the Light himself, but came that he might bear witness regarding the Light. There it was-the true Light [was then] coming into the world [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] that illumines every person. [Isaiah 49:6].

Psalm 18:28 says that LORD will light my candle. Revelation 21:23 says that the Lamb is the Light of the city. Matthew 5:14 says that you are the light of the world, a city set on a hill. The Lamb is the Light of this city that is set on a hill and the LORD will light the candle. The Word came into the world to illuminate it with the Light. Proverbs says that the spirit of man is the candle of the LORD. God had to come and light your candle, you could not burn by yourself. Jesus came as the High Priest to light your candle in the temple.

JESUS EXPRESSES THE FATHER, WHO IS LIGHT

John 1:10-13(Amplified) He came into the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him [did not know Him]. He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own-His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him. But to as many as did RECEIVE and welcome HIM, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the CHILDREN OF GOD, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name-[Isaiah 56:5]. They owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are BORN OF GOD!]

When you receive the Light, you are born again. It is the same as in John 3.

John 1:14 (Amplified) And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such GLORY as an ONLY BEGOTTEN SON receives from HIS FATHER, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. [Isaiah 40:5].

The disciples saw His Glory on the Mount of Transfiguration when His clothes changed and His raiment became whiter than anything on earth. Peter said that they were on the Mountain when they saw His Glory. Jesus revealed the Glory of the Father.

John 1:15-18 (Amplified) John testified about Him and cried out, This was He of Whom I said, He Who comes after me has priority over me, for He was before me. [He takes rank above me, for He existed before I did. He has advanced before me, because He is my Chief.] For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift. For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ. [Exodus 20:1]. No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or THE ONLY BEGOTTEN GOD, WHO IS IN THE BOSOM [in the intimate presence] OF THE FATHER, He has declared Him [HE HAS REVEALED HIM and brought Him out WHERE HE CAN BE SEEN; He has interpreted Him and He has MADE HIM KNOWN]. [Proverbs 8:30].

Jesus is in the bosom of the Father. He is not going to be or used to be in the bosom, but He is in the bosom of the Father. As He was walking on the earth, He was in the bosom of the Father. Jesus said that He only did the works of the One that sent Him and that is the Father. He said that He did nothing of Himself. In John 14 Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father and Jesus replied that if they saw Him, they have seen the Father. Jesus came to reveal the Father and to bring Him into the open. God is Spirit and is unseen. Jesus came to make Him known and show Him forth. 1 John 1:5-9 says that God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all. If any man says that he is in the light and does not walk in the light, he is a liar. If we say we walk in the light, the blood of His Son cleanses us from all sin and unrighteousness. If we then confess our sin, He is rightful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus takes our sins away and brings us into the presence of God, Who is Light. God is Light and when Jesus said that He came to reveal the Father, He said that He is the Light of the world. Hebrews 1:3 refers to Jesus as the express image of the unseen God and the radiance of the Light of the unseen God, Who is Light. You will only see light when you come into the throne room of God. Sometimes when people see visions, they see light. What they are actually seeing is the throne of God where there is only light.

If you see Jesus, you see the Father, Who is Light.

RECEIVE THE LIGHT BY RECEIVING JESUS

John 1:11-12 (Amplified) He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own-His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him. But to as many as did RECEIVE and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name-[Isaiah 56:5].

When you receive Jesus, you receive the Word and the Light of God.

John 1:13 (Amplified) Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are BORN OF GOD!]

You are actually now born of God, Who is Light.

DO THE WORKS OF THE LIGHT

John 3:18-21 (Amplified) He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation-he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.] The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil. [Isaiah 5:20]. For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved. But HE WHO PRACTICES TRUTH [who DOES WHAT IS RIGHT] COMES OUT INTO THE LIGHT; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are-wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence upon Him].

In John 9 Jesus said that the works of God must be shown in the man that was born blind. He said that He is the Light and must work while it is light, then He spat on the ground and made mud. That was the proof that He was the Light and that He does the works of the Light. He then told the boy to go and wash himself.

When we believe that Light came to the world and we come to Light and say: “Jesus, we accept You”, we receive the Word that became flesh, which is the Light of God inside of us. Psalm 18:28 says that the LORD will light my candle. When we accept Him, we become the light and when we truly believe it our deeds will prove that it is God working in and through us. We must get a revelation of this Light.

The Light is supposed to burn in the temple. When there were not many visions, much Word and the priest could not see, the lamp was still burning and Samuel was prepared to go to the Light. He went into the temple where the Light was and then God revealed Himself to Samuel as the Word and the Light.

When you accept Christ, you accept the Light and your candle is lit. The Lamb then becomes your Light and then you can work the works of God.

John 14:12 (Amplified) I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly BELIEVES IN ME, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do EVEN GREATER THINGS than these, because I go to the Father.

We are the temple body of God and His Light comes on the inside of us when we receive Him. It is a proof that the presence of God is still there and then works will be wrought. Darkness and light have no fellowship. In 2 Corinthians 6 Paul asked what communion darkness has with light. We are the temple of God and God dwells on the inside of us. Ephesians 5:8 says that we were once darkness, but are now light and we must walk as children of the light, having no fellowship with darkness. People do not make a difference in this day and cannot work the works of God, because of fellowship with darkness. We struggle in our souls because of wrong thoughts, the way we react and act and the way we walk and talk. Is it light or is it darkness?

Colossians 1:12,13 Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light. [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of DARKNESS and has transferred us into the KINGDOM OF LIGHT of the Son of His love…

We are delivered from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Light and should no longer be under the control of the kingdom of darkness. We should have no fellowship with darkness anymore.

THE FULLNESS OF GOD IS IN CHRIST

Colossians 1:14,15 (Amplified) In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the FORGIVENESS of our sins. [Now] He is the EXACT LIKENESS of the UNSEEN GOD [the VISIBLE REPRESENTATION of the INVISIBLE]; He is the Firstborn of all creation.

Colossians 1:18 (Amplified) He also is the HEAD OF HIS BODY, THE CHURCH; seeing He is the Beginning, the Firstborn from among the dead, so that He alone in everything and in every respect might occupy the chief place [stand first and be preeminent].

The temple is the church and it is the body of Christ of which He is the Head. We want to have the temple visitations and the temple glory.

Colossians 1:19 (Amplified) For it has pleased [the Father] that all the DIVINE FULLNESS (the sum total of the divine perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently.

Colossians 2:9 (Amplified) For in Him the WHOLE FULLNESS OF THE DEITY (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And YOU ARE IN HIM, MADE FULL and having COME TO THE FULLNESS OF LIFE [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

All the fullness of the Godhead now dwells in us. Jesus was the representation of the unseen God. He said that He sent us the same way the Father sent Him. He is currently at the right hand of the Father and we are the representation of the unseen God on the earth. Jesus said that He is the Light of the world (John 8:12) and now He tells us that we are the light of the world(Matthew 5:14). It is our responsibility to know what He wants to do with us. Jesus said that He is the temple, but He now has a body on this earth and therefore we are now the temple and have the fullness of the Godhead in us.

Ephesians 3:19 (Amplified) [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and BECOME A BODY WHOLLY FILED AND FLOODED WITH GOD HIMSELF]!

Sons of God are also the temple of God; they are the dwelling place of God. When the temple is built, it shall be filled. God said it to Moses, Nehemiah, Esra and Isaiah and they saw the temple filled with the Glory. Solomon’s temple was also filled with the Glory when it was finished. Jesus came as the Temple and they saw His Glory. We as the temple are now supposed to be filled with His Glory. We are built as the Temple of God on the foundation of Jesus Christ and we must not build with wood, hay or stubble, but with gold, silver and precious stones so that when the fire of God comes, we will just rise higher and the works of darkness will burn out. Light and darkness have no fellowship and therefore we must run to the Light. Numbers 14:21says that the Glory of the LORD shall fill all the earth. We’ve got a responsibility to get the earth filled with the Glory of God.

Colossians 1:20 (Amplified) And God purposed that through (by the service, the intervention of) Him [the Son] ALL THINGS should be COMPLETELY RECONCILED back TO HIMSELF, whether on earth or in heaven, as through Him, [the Father] made peace by means of the blood of His cross.

In John 3 Jesus was lifted up as the serpent on the cross. He paid the price and brought us peace on the cross.

Colossians 1:21,22 (Amplified) And although you at one time were estranged and alienated from Him and were of hostile attitude of mind in your wicked activities. Yet now has [Christ, the Messiah] reconciled [you to God] in the BODY OF HIS FLESH through death, in order to present you HOLY and FAULTLESS and irreproachable in HIS [the Father’s] PRESENCE.

To be holy and irreproachable is to be in the Most Holy Place of the temple where the presence of God is. Ephesians 1:21-22 We are being built up a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. We are being built up to form the Most Holy Place where God can dwell.

What must be in the dwelling place? The Light of the LORD must be there and it must not go out. If the Light is burning, the Word will be revealed and visions will come and God will find a dwelling place. Eli, who was the high priest, lost the presence of God. His eyes were dimmed and he could not see. Hebrews 12:2 says that we must look away from everything that could distract and focus our eyes on Jesus. He suffered and endured the cross for the prize of bringing many sons to Glory. The high priest, Eli’s spiritual eyes were not focused on God any more. The presence of God was not in their midst any more.

THE FIRE WILL TEST OUR WORKS

If you want to get the Glory back, which is the Light; the visible of the invisible; the presence of the unseen God, we must open our spiritual eyes. The temple is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ and we must continue to build right otherwise it will be tested by fire and destroyed. Only what can remain will remain.

Hebrews 12:26,27 (Amplified) Then [at Mount Sinai] His voice shook the earth, but now He has given a promise: Yet once more I will SHAKE and make tremble not only the earth but ALSO THE [starry] HEAVENS. [Haggai 2:6]. Now this expression, Yet once more, indicates the final REMOVAL AND TRANSFORMATION OF ALL THAT CAN BE SHAKEN-that is, of that which has been created-in order that what CANNOT BE SHAKEN MAY REMAIN and continue. [Psalm 102:26].

The church had the funny idea of the things that cannot be shaken to go away and the things that can be shaken to stay on the earth. God says that the things that can be shaken will be removed and that which can stand the shaking will remain.

Hebrews 12:28 (Amplified) Let us therefore, receiving a KINGDOM THAT IS FIRM and STABLE AND CANNOT BE SHAKEN, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe; for our God [is indeed] a CONSUMING FIRE. [Deuteronomy 4:24].

1 Corinthians 3:13 says that our works shall be tested by fire. What is built in the temple shall be tested. Paul wrote to the Corinthians that he could not speak to them as matured people, but as babies in Christ, because there were divisions, strife and jealousy. They could not eat the solid food because one said he was of Apollos and the other from Paul. Paul, as a master builder, laid the foundation of Jesus Christ. The building is then built with all kinds of material, but when the fire comes their works shall be tested for what it is and if it can remain. He asked them if they did not know that they are the temple of God and that the Holy Spirit dwells within them. The Christians as a body, but also individually form the temple. If anybody does harm to the temple, God will do harm to him. The harm that will be done is the fire that will burn and test his works, for God is a consuming fire.

In the temple of the LORD the lamp must be burning, but to keep the lamp burning, you must be able to see. Then you will get revelations in this Light and the Word and the visions will be many again. There will be a shaking and what cannot be shaken will remain, because our God is a consuming fire. In John 2 Jesus told them to break down the earthly temple and He will build it in three days, speaking about the real heavenly one. Hebrews 9 says that they had a tabernacle, but it was an earthly one. The real temple is the body of Christ. The real temple must be built.

THE LIGHT DRAWS THE NATIONS

Haggai 2:6-9 (KJV) For thus says the LORD of hosts; “Yet once, it is a little while, and I will SHAKE THE HEAVEN, and THE EARTH, and the sea, and the dry land and I will SHAKE ALL NATIONS, and the desire of all nations shall come.” “I WILL FILL THIS HOUSE WITH GLORY,” says the LORD of hosts. “The SILVER is mine, and the GOLD is mine,” says the LORD of hosts. “The GLORY OF THIS LATTER HOUSE SHALL BE GREATER THAN OF THE FORMER HOUSE,” says the LORD of hosts. “And in this place will I give PEACE,” says the LORD of hosts.

Isaiah 60 says to arise and shine for your Light has come and the Glory of God has risen upon you and then there will be a shaking of the nations and their riches will come to you.

When God speaks of the silver and the gold that is His, He refers to two temples. Jesus said that they must break the one down and He will build the real one. The temple of Solomon was his temple and not God’s temple. That is why He said that the Glory of the latter house shall be greater than that of the former. We are the latter temple of God and we have more Glory than what was ever revealed. Included in the Glory are the riches and the wealth of the nations. A certain pastor was building a church in Durban and he didn’t have the money to finish it. A Hindu woman came to him and blessed him with all the money to finish building the church.

Psalm 18:28 says that God will light our lamp and John 1:9 says that the true Light that enlightens every person was coming into the world.

HAVE A SINGLE EYE THAT IS FOCUSED ON JESUS ALONE

Luke 11:33-36 (Amplified) No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or crypt or under a bushel measure, but on a lamp stand, that those who are coming in MAY SEE THE LIGHT. Your EYE is the lamp of your BODY; when your EYE (your conscience) IS SOUND and fulfilling its office, your whole BODY IS FULL OF LIGHT; but when it is not sound and is not fulfilling its office, your body is full of darkness. Be careful, therefore, that the light that is in you is not darkness. If then your entire body is illuminated, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright [with light], as when a lamp with its bright rays gives you light.

Nations will come in when they see your light shining. You must let your light shine. Matthew 5:14-16 The light of the body is the eye. When you focus on Jesus, your eyes become sound and single. Your whole body or temple becomes light and then you cannot have fellowship with darkness. When you are not focused only on Jesus, you have darkness. When you are totally bright, people will come to that Light. That is revival.

THE GLORY COMES FROM GOD

2 Corinthians 4:6,7 (Amplified) For God Who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has SHONE IN OUR HEARTS so as [to beam forth] the LIGHT FOR THE ILLUMINATION of the KNOWLEDGE of the majesty and GLORY OF GOD [as it is manifest in the Person and is REVEALED] in the face of JESUS CHRIST (the Messiah). [Genesis 1:3] However, we POSSESS THIS PRECIOUS TREASURE [the DIVINE LIGHT of the Gospel] in [frail, human] VESSELS OF EARTH, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to BE FROM GOD and NOT FROM OURSELVES.

Jesus is the expression of the invisible God, Who is Light. God expresses the Light through Him. When Philip asked Jesus to show him the Father, Jesus said that if he had seen Him, he also saw the Father. Give God the Glory always. To Him alone belongs the Glory because it all comes from Him.
