| Sermon by Prophet Kobus van Renburg |

Death reigned from Adam to Moses because of sin.
Law reigned from Moses to Christ because of sin
From Christ on, Grace reigns because of sin.

Death was instituted because Adam and Eve sinned.
The Law was added because the children of Israel sinned.
Grace was instituted because the whole world sinned.

Sin was the cause that grace is now abounding for according to Romans 5:20 where sin abounds, grace more abounds. Paul also said in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory but God wants to bring His Glory back to the earth for Numbers 14:21 says that His Glory shall fill all the earth. Also read Isaiah 6:3 and Habakkuk 3:14. We are vessels of Glory for our God (Romans 9:23, II Corinthians 4:7).

We must understand that God dealt with sin and what happened after He dealt with sin.

In I Corinthians 2 Paul says that he did not came to them with the words of wisdom of man, but in a demonstration of the Spirit and power, because he wanted their faith to stand on the power of God. He wanted to know nothing amongst them except Christ and Him crucified and that was a stumbling block to the Jews, an offence to the Greeks, but to those who believe, it is the power of God.

Romans 8:1 (Amplified) Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the DICTATES OF THE SPIRIT. [John 3:18]. The Philips translation says that the flesh dictates you, but the Spirit prompts you. (Amplified) For the LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE [which is] in Christ Jesus [the LAW OF OUR NEW BEING] has freed me from the LAW OF SIN AND DEATH.

There is a Spirit of life and a spirit of death. The Law governs the spirit of death and Jesus Christ governs the Spirit of life. John 10:10 says that the thief comes to kill, steal and to destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. The life that Jesus came to give has a Spirit that controls it. This life in Christ Jesus is the law of a totally new being. II Corinthians 5:17 says that in Christ you are a new creature. We are free from the Law of sin and death. If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed (John 8:36). We shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free (John 8:32). Galatians 3:13-15 says that Christ has bought our freedom from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us. The curse was death. It was for freedom that Christ has set us free and Jesus died on the cross to give us freedom.

Romans 8:3 (Amplified) For God HAS DONE WHAT THE LAW COULD NOT DO, [its power] being weakened by the FLESH [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of SINFUL FLESH and as an offering for sin, [God] CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH [SUBDUED, OVERCAME, DEPRIVED IT OF ITS POWER over all who ACCEPT THAT SACRIFICE], [Leviticus 7:37].

The new being is not under the control of the spirit of stealing, killing and destruction, but the Spirit of life controls him. For it to come to reality, Jesus had to become flesh. John 1:1&14 says that in the beginning was the Word and the Word became flesh. The Word is God Himself and He became flesh and dwelt amongst us and we beheld His Glory as of the only begotten of the Father. In this flesh, Jesus had to deal with sin. He subdued, overcame, condemned and deprived it of its power. God made us to live and not to die. When God made man, He breathed the breath of life in him and man stood up a living soul (Genesis 2:7).

Death was reigning because of sin and to make death reign stronger, the Law came (Romans 5). God does not want the Law or death to reign, so He brought Grace in, which is the Spirit of life. To bring that, He had to send His Son, who is the Word that became flesh, in sinful flesh to die on the cross, paying the price to subdue and overcome sin for all, who accept the sacrifice. When you do not accept the sacrifice, sin is not subdued in your life. We try our best to live in the Spirit and not to walk in the flesh, but if we do not accept the sacrifice, sin is still ruling in our lives. We have to accept the sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross.

Ephesians 2:13-15 (Amplified) But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were [so] far away, through (by, in) the blood of Christ have been brought near. For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us, by abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused by] the Law with its decrees and ordinances [which He annulled]. That He FROM THE TWO MIGHT CREATE IN HIMSELF ONE NEW MAN [ONE NEW QUALITY OF HUMANITY out of the two], so making peace.

God wants a new quality of man that is not ruled, intimidated, controlled and dominated by sin. The flesh does not rule in him and there is no condemnation for him who lives by the Spirit and not after the flesh. God did in His flesh what the Law could not do. Now there is a new quality of man where the flesh does not dominate him and he can live by the promptings of the Spirit. We can live a victorious life over sin, sickness and unrighteousness.

Ephesians 2:16(a) (Amplified) And [He designed] to RECONCILE to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross…

In I Corinthians 2:1-16 Paul says that the power is in the crucified Christ. It is a stumbling block and a rock of offence to the Jew; to the Greek it is foolishness, but to the new quality of man it is the power of God. If the rulers of the world knew it, they would not have crucified the LORD of Glory. God wants to bring the Glory back. The natural, carnal and unspiritual man cannot accept the sacrifice of the cross. The spiritual man can accept that what the Law could not do, Jesus did in His Flesh Body to subdue and deprive sin of its power. He overcame sin in the flesh by putting it on the cross. By accepting the sacrifice, you become a new quality of man with the power of God in your life.

II Corinthians 5:16-17 (Amplified) Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard no one from a [purely] human point of view [in terms of natural standards of value]. [No] even though we once did estimate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, yet now [we have such knowledge of Him that] we KNOW HIM NO LONGER IN TERMS OF THE FLESH. Therefore if any person is [engrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a NEW CREATION (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold the fresh and new has come!

If any person is in Christ he no longer knows Christ after the flesh. John 3:14-17 – The love of God constrains us. This is the same love that God had for us when He gave us His Son. The Son had to die on the cross for in the same way Moses lifted up the serpent on a pole, so the Son of Man had to be lifted up to die on the cross. We must understand that love that brought that sacrifice and this love constrain us to be reconciled to God in the Body of His cross.

If we know each other in the flesh, we can be offended when the other says something wrong. If we know Christ in the flesh, we can also still take offence, because the cross becomes a stumbling block. Most Christians take offence because of the crucified Christ, but He was crucified in the flesh and the natural man cannot receive it.

II Corinthians 5:21 (Amplified) For our sake HE MADE CHRIST [virtually] TO BE SIN WHO KNEW NO SIN, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

The Law could not subdue sin, because it was weakened through the flesh. God subdued sin by sending His Son in flesh. Jesus was pure and holy and knew no sin; He became sin in the flesh to overcome sin in the flesh. When He hung on that cross everyone was offended and they walked away. How can we now not know Christ after the flesh anymore?

Everything about the crucified Christ was a price that He paid in the flesh. On the cross, He had all the feelings and emotions that all of us have. He felt every nail and every thorn. He felt every lash on His back, because He had to overcome sin in the flesh. He became sin and death, became cancer, sickness, diabetes, heart problems and diseases till He had no form, nor comeliness that we should desire Him and everyone turned away. They all took offence when He became obedient to the spirit of death (Isaiah 53). Because of His sacrifice we can be righteous. What if we do not know Him after the flesh?

Romans 8:11 (Amplified) And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also RESTORE TO LIFE YOUR MORTAL (short-lived, perishable) BODIES through HIS SPIRIT Who DWELLS IN YOU.

We were under a spirit of death, because of the Law that dominated us. The Law could not bring us life, but the Spirit of Life, which is in Christ, freed us to be a new being and it can bring us to a new quality of man, because Christ subdued sin of its power in the flesh. We can now be the righteousness of God, because it is the opposite of sin’s power. Although we knew Him after the flesh, the crucified Christ, there is a point where we no longer know Him after the flesh, where we step into the new quality of man that will live and not die. The same Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus that has freed us from the spirit of death makes us a new being in the Flesh Body of Christ. The same Spirit first raised Christ’s Flesh Body from the dead. He had to overcome that sin in the flesh and had to submit to the spirit of death.

When He died, His Spirit went to the Father;
His Soul went to hell.
His Body to the grave.

There was a broken, torn apart Body that did not look like a man that went to the grave. When He hung on the cross and all the sin was on Him, He said that it is finished. He had subdued, overcome and deprived sin of its power in the flesh.

He had to come back to life so that the price He paid can now be our portion. His Spirit came and got His Soul out of hell (Acts 2:27) (where He preached to the disobedient souls (I Peter 3:18-20)) and went to the Body and on the third day He was raised from the dead. Now that same Spirit of Life that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us and that same Spirit will do something to our flesh. He will restore to life, because He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. The Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus that brought Him back to life now dwells in us and will restore to life our mortal flesh to abundant life so that death, the Law and sin no longer rule over us. We are now a new quality of man.

II Corinthians 4:6-7 (Amplified) For God Who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts so as [to beam forth] the Light for the illumination of the knowledge of the majesty and glory of God [as it is manifest in the Person and is revealed] in the face of Jesus Christ (the Messiah). [Genesis 1:3]. However, WE POSSESS THIS PRECIOUS TREASURE [the divine Light of the Gospel] IN [frail, human] VESSELS OF EARTH, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.

The power of God is the stumbling block and offence that put Him on the cross. To shine in our lives, God first had to kill the Light. Darkness had to fill the whole earth and the Light of the world had to go out. It is the Spirit, which is the Life and it is also the Light (John 1:4). That Light that raised Christ from the death comes to live in us and then we posses that treasure on the inside: the treasure of Light and Life and energy and Glory.

II Corinthians 4:10-14 (Amplified) Always carrying about in the body the liability and exposure to the same putting to death that the Lord Jesus suffered, so that the [resurrection] LIFE OF JESUS also MAY BE SHOWN forth by and IN OUR BODIES. For we who live are constantly [experiencing] being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake, that the [RESURRECTION] LIFE OF JESUS also might be evidenced through our flesh which is liable to death. Thus death is actively at work in us, but [it is in order that our] life [may be actively at work] in you. Yet WE HAVE THE SAME SPIRIT of FAITH as he had who wrote, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We too believe, and therefore we speak, [Psalm 116:10]. Assured that HE, WHO RAISED UP THE LORD JESUS, will RAISE US UP also with Jesus and bring us [along] with you into His presence.

It is not talking about when we die, because II Corinthians 3:18 says that we will be changed from glory to glory. Zechariah 3:7 says to Joshua that he will get places with all that is standing with Him around the throne. God was saying to Joshua that His throne room is filled with the cloud of witnesses. God says that He will give you access to walk with them in His Presence. Where do you spend your time?

II Corinthians 4:14-15(a) (Amplified) Assured that He Who raised up the Lord Jesus will raise us up also with Jesus and BRING US [along] with you INTO HIS PRESENCE. For ALL THESE THINGS ARE [taking place] FOR OUR SAKE…

II Corinthians 4:17-18 (Amplified) For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]. Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are INVISIBLE are DEATHLESS AND EVERLASTING.

It is for our sakes that these things took place and we are to look at the unseen. Deathlessness, which is life because of the Spirit of Life, will present us in His Presence. On the one side we have to look at Jesus suffering on the cross, paying the price in the flesh. When we accept the sacrifice, there is a time that we do not know Him after the flesh, because He was raised from the dead by the Spirit of life to bring us to become a new quality of man. The same Spirit of Life now dwells in us and we become the righteousness. When we look at the invisible God, we have a new quality life and become deathless. That same Spirit quickens our mortal bodies and Jesus Christ becomes visible in us.

Romans 4:17 (Amplified) As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who GIVES LIFE TO THE DEAD and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed. [Genesis 17:5]

Abraham believed God, Who said that even deathless things could come to life by calling the nonexistent things as if they already exist. He believed that even if Isaac would have died, God could raise him from the dead. Death is no longer the power, but the Spirit of Life is now the power. God first preached the gospel to Abraham and said that there will come a time that Jesus will be raised from the dead. Abraham believed that God can speak to the spirit of death and it will leave and make a way for life and things that are invisible will become visible. Sin, sickness, death and mortality will go and righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, health, and immortality will come if you believe.

Romans 4:21-25 (Amplified) Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to KEEP HIS WORD and TO DO WHAT HE HAD PROMISED. That is why his faith was credited to him as RIGHTEOUSNESS (right standing with God). But [the words], It was credited to him, were written NOT FOR HIS SAKE ALONE, alone, but [they were written] for OUR SAKES TOO. [Righteousness, standing acceptable to God] will be granted and credited to us also who believe in (trust in, adhere to, and rely on) God, WHO RAISED JESUS OUR LORD FROM THE DEAD, Who was betrayed and put to death because of our misdeeds and was RAISED TO SECURE OUR JUSTIFICATION (our acquittal), [making our account balance and absolving us from all guilt before God].

It is for our sakes also that righteousness will be granted for all who believe that God raised Christ from the dead. Jesus hung on the cross, but was raised from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father and He also lives in us. Jesus Christ is forever living, but not knowing the Flesh Body of Christ that subdued sin, we can know Him now as the risen Christ, Whose Spirit of life now dwells in us. He brings a weight of Glory and it brings the invisible things into being. We can have life and have it more abundantly and the spirit of stealing, killing and destruction has no power any more if we believed that He is raised.

Romans 4:25 (KJV) Who was delivered for OUR OFFENCES, and was RAISED again for OUR JUSTIFICATION.

John the Baptist took offence of Jesus and lost his life (John 11). The people of Nazareth also took offence in Mark 6 and He could not do many miracles there. Jesus explained to the people that the bread is His Flesh and the drink is His Blood and that also offended people.

John 6: 60-63 (Amplified) When His disciples heard this, many of them said, This is a hard and difficult and strange saying (an offensive and unbearable message). Who can stand to hear it? [Who can be expected to listen to such teaching?] But Jesus, knowing within Himself that His disciples were complaining and protesting and grumbling about it, said to them: Is this a STUMBLING BLOCK and an OFFENSE to you? [Does this upset and displease and shock and scandalize you?] What then [will be your reaction] if you should see the Son of Man ASCENDING [THE PLACE] where He was before? It is the SPIRIT WHO GIVES LIFE [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.

When Jesus told them to eat His Flesh, the people took offence. The bread is His Flesh and not a symbol or a resemblance. In His flesh, Jesus overcame sin on the cross, but at the end the flesh avails to nothing. It is the Spirit that gives life. If you can’t accept the sacrifice, you can’t get over to the Spirit of Life. Only when you accept the sacrificial body of Jesus, can you experience the fullness of the Life that the Spirit brings. You can come to a deathless, sinless, immortal, perfected and matured life. The thief comes only to kill, to steal and to destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Christ set us free from the spirit of sin and death by the Spirit of Life, which is in Him. When you are offended, that is the reason He went to the cross.

The cross became the offence
and the Rock of offence became the Cornerstone.

When most of the crowd already left Jesus, the rest that were still with Him also became offended. Then Jesus said to them that if they could not handle it, how would they handle the fact that He would go to the place where He came from: heaven. It is for those offences that Jesus died and then He was raised to justify us. The Flesh Body will take away the offence and the Spirit will bring you into a justified position. Then there is no offence. Offences only come to people in the flesh and not to people in the Spirit.

When you get hurt, you are actually taking offence and you are in the flesh.
When you accept the sacrifice of Christ’s Body on the cross, the Spirit of Life will dwell in us, the offence will be gone and you’ll be justified.

Justified means:
You are now righteous.

Romans 5:1-2 (Amplified) THEREFORE, SINCE we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.

Romans 5:6-10 (Amplified) While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for (in behalf of) the ungodly. Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die. But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were STILL SINNERS, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. Therefore, since we are now justified (acquitted, made righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ’s blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be SAVED (DAILY DELIVERED FROM SIN’S DOMINION) through HIS RESURRECTION LIFE.

Now that we are justified, made righteous and have been set free, He will daily subdue, overcome and deprive sin of its power by the Spirit of Life that is in us. If you accept the sacrifice, you’ll accept the daily victory! The sacrifice is that it is finished, sin is overcome and you can daily live in victory.

Every epistle of the apostles tells us of daily struggles and how to overcome them.

Ephesians 1:18-20 (Amplified) By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones), and [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and UNLIMITED AND SURPASSING GREATNESS of HIS POWER in and for US WHO BELIEVE, as DEMONSTRATED in the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when HE RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places].

We are raised together with Him to demonstrate His power in and through us Ephesians 2:6-7. We must accept the crucified Christ and not take offence so that the risen life within us won’t be an offence to us. The disciples first took offence and struggled with the fact that Jesus said that He was going to be crucified. They rejoiced when He was raised and alive. Then He called them and told them that He was going away again and again they took offence.

When John the Baptist first came he said that they must repent for the Kingdom of Heaven was at hand. Then Jesus came and He said the same. In John 3 Jesus said to Nicodemus that the Son of Man comes from heaven and will go back, but first He must be lifted on a cross and then He’ll go to heaven because no man can do anything except it be given Him from heaven. Isaiah 66 says that the heaven is the throne of God and the earth is His footstool. All authority comes from heaven and that is why He said, ‘Let Thy Kingdom come.’ We must pray that the Kingdom will come and His will be done on earth as it is in the heaven. The Law couldn’t do what Jesus came to do, because it was powerless because of the flesh. God did it by sending Jesus in sinful flesh so that the law of the Spirit of life can bring us into a new being. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is now in us and that makes us a new quality man that will say, “Let Your Kingdom come.” Jesus asked the disciples that if they cannot take the cross, how will they take Kingdom of heaven on the earth.

Jesus said that the Word came from heaven and became Flesh and dwelt amongst us and we beheld His Glory to die on the cross to deprive sin of its power. It will be an offence and stumbling block, but those who accept the sacrifice, will also accept the Spirit of Life that raised Christ from the dead. That same Spirit will cause them to know the unlimited, surpassing greatness of His power that raised Christ from the dead. Romans 5:17 now says that we, who know this power, rule and reign in this life with One, Christ Jesus. It is not only the knowledge, but also the using of the power. Revelation 1:5 and Revelation 5:10 say that He washed us in His blood to make us kings and priests to rule on the earth.

You cannot be a ruler and know the power unless you know what the cross and the crucifixion is all about. If you totally accept the sacrifice, the Spirit that raised Christ from the dead will live in you and it becomes a daily victory over sin, because the Kingdom of heaven is now on the earth. Everything that He did on the cross can be enforced on the earth. If you know the cross, you can live the life of victory. He raised us up together and seated us together in heavenly places to say to sin that it is deprived of its power and has been overcome. Whenever it bursts out again, the Spirit of Life inside helps you to overcome it daily. If Christ overcame sin by dying, how much more will He help you daily to overcome sin through living. The demons must have shivered when Jesus stood in the garden on the third day when He was raised and said, “Mary!” They knew that what was done on the cross was going to be enforced on the earth. Now we can boldly command the spirit of killing, stealing and destruction to GO! We can invite the Spirit of Life in Christ to come and take control of our lives and He will quicken our mortal bodies to LIVE!
